Weight Loss Management Q & A

What are the benefits of weight loss management?

Physician-supervised weight loss management gives you the benefit of guidance from a specialist like Dr. Subramani. He provides medical care that factors hormonal imbalances and chronic health conditions into your program, in addition to health awareness and wellness.

A key benefit of weight loss management is a compassionate support team. They give you the tools to succeed, including diet plans, calorie goals, and exercise recommendations, and hold you accountable for your weight loss progress.

Is advanced testing part of my weight loss management?

Dr. Subramani offers an array of tests, including advanced metabolic testing. The results allow him to fine-tune the details of your customized weight loss program.

You may receive:

Body composition assessment

The BodyLogic™ DXA Advanced Body Composition® Assessment, also called a DEXA scan, is the gold standard for measuring the amount and location of your body fat and lean muscle. The DXA scan includes a visceral adipose tissue (VAT) assessment, which reveals the fat in your abdomen.

Dr. Subramani uses the DXA analysis to plan your program, then to evaluate your progress and verify you’re losing fat and not muscle.

VO2 Max Testing

VO2 Max Testing by KORR™ shows the amount of oxygen you take in while exercising on a treadmill. This test provides information about how your body burns fuel, which in turn guides decisions about your exercise program.

Resting metabolic rate (RMR)

Your RMR shows the calories you burn when resting. Dr. Subramani determines RMR with indirect calorimetry, a test in which you breathe into a tube and the device measures the amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) you exhale and Oxygen (o2) you breathe in.

Your VO2 and CO2 measurements determine your unique calorie requirements.

3D body imaging

You stand on a slowly spinning platform to get a 3D image of your body. This gives you a visual that helps you lose weight and keep it off.

Genetic testing

Because of genetics, you might have a tendency to gain weight. Genetics also determine how you metabolize nutrients and calories. Genetic testing involves a simple swab of your gums.

With the results, Dr. Subramani can customize your diet plan and workout regime, using strategies specific for your body and genes.

Gut check program

The bacteria living in your gut affect weight loss and maintenance, fat storage, and metabolism. Dr. Subramani checks the organisms in your stool to determine if you need a customized prebiotic and/or probiotic program.

Advanced hormonal testing and treatment

Advanced hormone testing produces a profile of all your hormones, including those that affect your weight and metabolism. When needed, Dr. Subramani prescribes bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
